The organisation evolved in 1990 from the previously existing Circle of Friends of the Handel House and it is open to anyone interested in the Handel House and its significance, e. g. lovers of music, professional musicians, musicologists, regional historians, interested parties of the house, monument and museum. At present the organisation has approx. 350 members from Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, USA and Canada. The annual membership fee is € 20 for single members and € 25 for family membership.

The events and works of the organisation mirror the work of the Handel House as well as its pedagogical museum work. Not only lectures concerts and excursions, but also wine evenings and social get-togethers are all on the programme. In addition the association tries to promote the equipping of Handel's birth house, works hard to find financial support for the museum through grants and sponsors and supports the work of the Handel House youth club with approx 25 events annually.
